By Lee McCormick and Mary Falkner, co-authors of Spirit Recovery Medicine Bag

Spirit Recovery Medicine Bag  by two seasoned experts, Lee McCormick and Mary Falkner, is a guide for finding the way back to one’s personal truth, authenticity and purpose by shedding the stories that we tell ourselves about our own lives–-using heart-opening methodologies.

Exercise1—Exploring Your HopesandDreams

Write in a journal and share your answers:

  • What do I long for?
  • What does it feel like?
  • What about life hooks my imagination?
  • What does that feel like?
  • What would I do if I weren’t afraid?
  • What would fearlessness feel like?

Exercise2—DreamingtheNewDream

Find a quiet place where you can freely get in touch with your hopes and dreams for an hour. Maybe begin with, What do you want to be when you grow up?

Next, change focus to the type of  person you want to be.

Experience this quality emotionally. Breathe it in. Keep imagining your life with this quality until you can feel it physically. Let go of toxic beliefs that come to mind. This is transforming you.

Exercise3—Transforming Blocks

Ask yourself  what’s  in the way of fully living. For example,“What is blocking me from experiencing my creativity?” Did someone tell me I wasn’t creative (or beautiful or handsome or wonderful…)? Did I believe it? Do I need to believe it now?

Exercise4—Dreaming theRealYou

Talk, write, and/or draw pictures about your transformed life and your ideal self.

Create a ceremony in which you will symbolize letting go of old beliefs, allowing them to transform.

It’s not unusual to repeat—each time reaching deeper into yourself. You are clearing patterns. The limbic system can be updated. You can heal. Don’t give up before the miracle, and get more help if you need it.

Reach deeper into yourself, heeding the stories that we tell ourselves about our own lives, using heart-opening methodologies, What would fearlessness feel like?  To learn more, go to: Spirit Recovery
