Positive Thinking Made Easy

We all start out with a clean slate when we are born, but it doesn’t take long for us to learn negative thoughts and beliefs. Sometimes they are inherited just by the fact that our parents say them. Other times we create new beliefs based on an event that happens in our life. Unless our parents and teachers kept us focused on positive thinking, we end up having all sorts of negative beliefs about ourselves, none of which are true, but our subconscious mind keeps playing them out for us as if they are true. The worst part is that the longer we have them playing in our subconscious mind, the more we make those beliefs our reality.

There are sayings that we learn and live by that are negative, that we continually say as if it has no meaning and yet if we look closely our lives are being run by those sayings.

Here are a few examples:

  1. Money is the Root of all Evil
  2. The rich get richer while the poor get poorer
  3. You have to work hard to succeed
  4. Nothing worth having comes easy
  5. Everything comes with a price
  6.  You have to work hard to get ahead
  7. Good girls don’t enjoy sex
  8. Boys are dirty or bad
  9. Everyone in our family dies young
  10. xxx illness or trait runs in the family
  11. You’ll never be any good at xxx
  12. We are powerless to make a difference
  13. Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy & wise

And, of course there a millions of saying like these. The thing is that they are playing in our subconscious mind over and over and running our lives all without us being aware. Instead when something happens to us that matches one of those saying, we start counting it as proof that the saying is true.

Just like those negative sayings are playing out in our subconscious mind, we can easily program positive saying into our subconscious mind and start making our lives more enjoyable, more peaceful, more healthy and even build more wealth.

A couple of years ago I decided to do a test. I was fairly stressed out and a bit anxious about some big changes that were happening in my life. So, I created a mantra that was the opposite and started saying it over and over in my head. In fact every day when I went for my daily walk, I would repeat the mantra 108 times. I created a quick system that made it easy to count 108 times by placing my thumb to each finger on my left hand as I said the mantra, and then closing all 4 fingers together for the 5th one. Each time I completed 5 I would count that as one using the same finger to thumb method on my right hand. I then did four sets on my right hand and then did 8 additional to get to 108.

The mantra is very simply…

  • Peace
  • Love
  • Harmony
  • Bliss

In addition to doing this during my daily walk, whenever I felt any stress, I would quick say those 4 simple words. Within 2 weeks I started noticing that I was handling things more easily and not getting stressed out. Within about 30 days, I had a friend tell me that I had become the most calm, happy person they knew. Today, I have had a lot of people comment about how calm and happy I am and it all has to do with making that mantra my way of living. I did not make a single conscious choice to become more peaceful or calm, except to repeat that mantra, but on a subconscious level I was making more peaceful choices and working with a more open heart and with a lot more compassion.

Since that I have worked with a variety of different mantras. Some might seem more like affirmations, but whatever you want to call them, they work, because by doing the process I mentioned above, it simply starts me acting on that new belief. I prefer very simple, catchy phrases, or rhymes. Here are a few examples.
