Forgiveness... A Path to Peace

It’s easy for us to hold grudges, stay angry with others, blame others for things that they did and stick to what we believe happened during an event in the past, knowing that “I Am Right”. Sound familiar? Well, today I want to talk about the biggest reason it is important for us to forgive every person we are holding grudges against, who we are angry with, who we blame and more. You see it may seem easy to not forgive, because we “Know we are Right”! But when we finally realize at a very deep level that those things that we are carrying around, are weighing us down, burning up our energy and burning out our light that is a moment of awakening.

When we awaken to the knowledge that holding a grudge or staying angry or standing on ceremony that “You are Right”, is only hurting ourselves then we can begin to heal. Through the process of forgiving, we can get rid of huge amount of old baggage that is doing a great deal of harm to us.

Close your eyes for a moment, and just imagine feeling light and happy every day. Well, that’s what it feels like when we forgive others and even more importantly we forgive ourselves and mean it. Yes, it is easy to say to someone that you forgive them, but do you really mean it, or are you still thinking about it days, weeks, months or even years later. If this is the case, you have not forgiven.

Forgiveness has to come from the heart, and although you may never forget the event, if you can think of it as a great lesson, or a blessing rather than with anger and frustration, then you’ll know that you have truly forgiven.

This video along with the song Forgiveness says it all.

This video was created to support James Twyman and his peace concert and prayer vigil in ISIS controlled Syria on February 1, 2016, Rick Beneteau and Larry Thompson offered their song, Forgiveness, performed by Joan Colbourn-Charette, which James is utilizing in the event.
