The holiday season is not only the busiest time of the year for shopping, family gatherings, and even company parties. It is also the busiest time of the year for doctors, therapists and energy workers. The reason for this is that it is the most stressful time of the year. There are a lot of reasons for the stress levels to be higher, including
- Pressure of trying to buy the perfect gift for each person we are buying for and keeping within a budget we can actually afford.
- Attending family gatherings with our own family, our relatives or even our spouses relatives, when we don’t necessarily see eye to eye on things.
- Attending business functions that we are obligated to attend, maybe even to keep our job.
- Many jobs also have year-end tasks that must be done before the end of the year, adding additional pressure to an already stressful time.
If you find yourself wishing the holidays were over, before they even get started, it is my hope that you will find some of the following tips to be helpful for…
- Reducing the Stress
- Creating more Joy and Happiness during the Season
- Staying healthier during the season
Reducing Stress
I find that most stress is caused by F.E.A.R., the type that is False Evidence Appearing Real. We conjure up in our mind all of the things that could go wrong and by the time we arrive at that family gathering or business gathering, we are stressed and absolutely sure that whatever we have conjured up in our mind is going to happen. Hey, it happened in the past, in fact it’s happened every year. That’s what many of my clients tell me, so it must be try. Well, it may be true that it has happened in the past, we do have a choice to make things different this time around.
Here are the steps I take and that I recommend to my clients whenever I find myself fearful about any event.
- Acknowledge that you have allowed fear to take over your mind.
- Ask yourself is this fear “REAL” or is it something you believe could happen. If a lion is charging at you the fear is real, but if your fear is that the family party is going to turn into one big argument, that’s not a fear that something you are projecting.
- Ask yourself what would happen if ‘Whatever you are fearing were to happen’.
- Keep asking question 3 until you are sure that you have identified the ‘Real’ underlying fear.
- Ask yourself if you are willing to let go of that ‘Real’ underlying fear.
- See yourself doing whatever you fear and that you come out of it perfectly fine.
- Identify any underlying beliefs that may be causing this fear.
- Ask yourself are you willing to change those beliefs.

- Take a few minutes every day and visualize everyone you will be interacting with today, and see you interaction being loving and compassionate
- Open your heart center and send love to everyone you will be interacting with
- If you find yourself in a conflict with someone, excuse yourself and go to the bathroom. Once in the bathroom, fill the room and then the entire building with love, send the person love. Look for the humor in the situation. Remember we can’t always agree, but we can usually find a way to agree to disagree without making anyone else wrong. Is your opinion so important that you really want to fight about this issue.
- Consider this… At the end of your life, will you be wishing you won this argument or wishing you had been more loving, compassionate and understanding.
Staying Healthier
By staying healthier we are far more resilient when it comes to having to do more and to deal with the stresses. Here are some of my favorite things to do to keep healthy all year long.
Think and stay positive. If you have any beliefs around getting sick during the winter months or the holidays, now is the time to stop playing those over and over in your mind and start changing those beliefs. Since I started doing this, I haven’t gotten any seasonal colds, or flu. In fact the last time I had any of those ailments was over 14 years ago.
Here are some tips to get you started.
- Notice any of your thoughts about getting sick.
- Each time you notice those negative thoughts immediately stop them by saying cancel, cancel, or stating something more positive. For instance if you notice yourself saying, the kids always bring something home and we all get sick. Cancel that thought and say, I always stay healthy. The more you tell yourself that You Always stay healthy, the more likely you are to stay healthy. You want to be sure to use positive words. The last time I got sick, I kept repeating I never get sick. That may seem positive, but it was focused on sick instead of focused on healthy. Other affirmations are: My immune system is strong and healthy. every day in every way I am healthier and healthier. You can even sing a song like “Every little cell in my body is healthy, every little cell in my body is well”. Get your children involved as well, and you’ll see how much healthier they stay. Make it positive and fun.
- Take supplements to build your immune system. This can include Vitamin C as well as a good Probiotic.
- Thump your Thymus Gland occasionally throughout the day and say a few positive affirmations about always being healthy while doing so. Not sure where your Thymus Gland is… It’s the slight bump on your sternum about 1″ from the top.
- Whenever I am exposed to anyone with a Cold or the Flu, I also use my Krystagraphs along with Misa Hopkins Sound Medicine. I highly encourage you to have this package on hand , to help you stay healthy. It includes 45 Krystagraphs and Misa’s sound medicine for one low price. Remember this is something you never have to buy again and everyone in the family can use.
With days shorter and cooler if not downright cold, we don’t typically get enough vitamin D, which comes from sunshine. If you aren’t able to get more sunshine,
than do one or more of the following:
- Take a walk in nature, even if you don’t get much sunshine, fresh air is a great way to recharge
- Take supplements, like Vitamin D.
- Get a Daily Light Lamp and sit with it shining on you. This is especially helpful if you suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (aka SAD). When I lived in Michigan I suffered from SAD and found these lamps as well as Vitamin D to be very helpful.
