Discover your new beliefs as you move beyond a Dark Night of the Soul
As I mentioned at the beginning of this series of articles for Moving Beyond a Dark Night of the Soul, ( In case you missed the first article about “Moving Beyond a Dark Night of the Soul”, click here!) the first step was to Meditate and Journal. The second step is all about examining both your old beliefs and the new beliefs you have discovered as you move forward. Many of the people I have known that have gone through a Dark Night of the Soul, including myself, one of the common threads is that we awaken with a feeling of owning our power and a freedom to recognize that many of the beliefs that have dominated our thinking for our entire lives are not supporting us. In fact what we discover is that suddenly we are willing to claim our power, embrace new possibilities and powerful beliefs that are positive and supportive to having the life we deserve.
Remember Your Old Beliefs Can Trip You Up…
I saw this posting on Face Book the other day and thought that it was appropriate for what I’m about to share. My only objection is that it needs to say All of Our Children Should be Told this Daily.
Once we come out of that Dark Night, we may immediately begin by embracing our new beliefs, our stronger more powerful self, and what can happen is that the people around us that have known us for years, no longer recognize us. They are the negative people that were mirroring what you thought and felt about yourself before the Dark Night of the Soul. In some cases they may even be a person that helped to push you into that Dark Night. Keep in mind that we have contracts with other souls to help us to learn, so when I say pushed you into… That’s not about blame, it’s about remembering that they were doing their part.
So, the problems with our new beliefs is that suddenly we don’t fit in with the people we hung out with before, we may even feel uncomfortable with our family members. That’s because we have begun to change. It is in these moments that we can chose to slip back to where we were or embrace the new self and move forward. It is also one of the scariest things we can do, because we find ourselves having to let go of the familiar and step out into the unfamiliar. We may also find ourselves with no family or friends that understand us who are even unknowingly trying to pull you pack into the negativity.
It can be the most exciting time of your life, if you let go of the fear and move into a state of trust and knowing that the Divine Universal Source Energy will be there to catch you or you will be taught how to fly. It’s my experience that we always learn to fly and that we can learn to fly higher and higher when you embrace the new you with total love.
It is important that you remind yourself that no matter what someone else says about you, thinks about you, etc., that you have the power to claim who you are and to either accept what they say or think about you, or ignore them and a claim what you know deep in your heart about yourself. You are a beautiful beings with a beautiful heart that is full of LOVE!
Here are a few steps to implement immediately, to embrace your new beliefs, make them stronger, so that you receive the loving support to keep loving yourself as you Move Beyond the Dark Night of the Soul.
- Identify Your New More Positive Beliefs – Do this by taking time to journal about those new beliefs.
- Identify Your Old Negative Beliefs – Do this as well by taking time to journal about those old beliefs. Be sure to dig as deep as you. You may find it helpful to ask “What If”, “Why” or similar questions to help you go deeper. For instance I you see yourself as unlovable, or unsuccessful, ask yourself; What would Happen If I loved Myself? Why am I afraid to Love Myself? What would happen if I was successful?, etc. If you think you are a bad person, Ask why do I believe I am bad? Remember you are looking for the “Core Belief” the one that is at the root of your negative thinking.
- Make sure your new positive beliefs are strong by affirming them everyday. I recommend doing saying them out loud while looking into your eyes as well as saying them whenever you notice yourself slipping into negativity.
- Taking the Core Negative Beliefs, create a list of positive beliefs that can bridge from that negative belief to your new positive beliefs. For example, if you new belief is that you are amazing, but your core belief says that it is egotistical and wrong to think of yourself as amazing or claim how amazing you are, you would use these bridging beliefs
- I desire to know at a core level that the Divine Source within me is cheering me on to embrace how amazing I am
- I deserve to know at a core level that the Divine Source within me is cheering me on to embrace how amazing I am
- I am able to embrace that I am amazing
- I am amazing
- I desire to know that God (use the word that means God or Source to you), is cheering me on to embrace how amazing I am
- I deserve to know that God is cheering me on to embrace how amazing I am
- I easily embrace that amazing person I am
- I claim my amazingly wonderful self as perfect as I am.
- I love myself totally and completely
- Uproot the old beliefs and replace them with the list you created, be sure that every word you use is a positive word. Rather than Unconditional Love use Total and Complete Love, rather than effortless use easily, rather than limitless use infinite, etc.
- Stand in front of a full length mirror, look into your left eye with both eyes and repeat each new affirmation until it feels true, before moving to the next affirmation.
- Repeat step 6 twice per day for 21 days.

Don’t Share with Naysayers
All too often as we move forward to being more positive and allowing our higher self and source energy to help guide our lives, we find that few if any people in our lives will support us in doing what we are guided to do. The key is to only share insights, new beliefs and so on with people who will love your totally and will not shed doubt on everything you are doing and saying. Associate with the negative people in your life as little as possible, while protecting your energy and not allowing yourself to get caught up in their negative gossip and self-talk.
Start Building a Positive Support Network
If you find that you have little or no positive supportive people in your life, start building that network immediately. I have taught 1000’s of people this simple technique that works miracles for creating positive support.
Sit quietly for 5-10 minutes or more each day before starting your day or just before leaving your house for work.
Open and Balance Your Chakras and then start breathing green light into your heart. With each breath expand your love energy wider, first filling your body, then the room, then the entire house or apartment, the building, the neighborhood, etc. until you have filled the entire universe with love energy. Then begin to visualize magnetically attracting loving, supportive people toward you.
If you do this simple exercise every day before long you will have your positive support network.
