Change Your Core Beliefs

Now that you have discovered one or more negative beliefs, (see part 1 for discovering your negative beliefs) and dug deeper to find the underlying “Core Belief”, (see part 2 to learn how to find your Core Beliefs) it is time to start changing those beliefs.
When it comes to changing beliefs, it’s imperative that you start from where you are and build from there. Most people start out stating the end belief that they want to achieve, but when doing that, your subconscious is very likely to have doubts and therefore you get little or no results. If you have never made more than $5000 per month and suddenly you start affirming that you are easily making $10,000 per month you end up with lots of doubts, yet if you instead say I easily am making $5500 per month, that seems much more achievable. Once you get to the $5500 you then increase it to $6000 and so on. You’ll actually cut the time down to get to the $10,000 mark significantly by taking baby steps. Over time you’ll be able to make the bridge large, so that you might increase from $6000 to $6750 or even $7000 as you build your confidence and money mastery muscles.
I liken this to the idea that when you were a baby and wanted to learn to walk or run. You didn’t just say one day I am walking, instead you started out sliding and pushing yourself in an attempt to get up. Eventually, you got up on your knees and hands and begin to crawl. Then you started pulling yourself up on the edge of things like a table or chair, until you could stand and then voila one day you take your first step. Gradually you became stable on your two feet to be able to walk and over time you were then able to speed up the walking and then finally you were able to run.
Bridging Your Beliefs
Changing your beliefs is a similar process. Using the example from Part 2 of this series, that God would punish me if I loved myself, I bridged my beliefs using all of the following beliefs.
- I desire God’s love when I love myself
- I deserve God’s love when I love myself
- I am able to receive God’s love when I love myself
- God loves me when I love myself
- I desire to love myself
- I deserve to love myself
- I am able to love myself
- I love myself
- I love myself totally and completely
- Every day in every way I love myself more and more
- Every day in every way I love myself more fully
- Every day in every way I love myself totally and completely
- Krystalya, I love you totally and completely
- Krystalya, you love yourself totally and completely
If you are working on self-worth, self-esteem, or supporting yourself, you would add similar affirmations for each of these topics as well, replacing love with worthy, or supported, etc.
Positive Wording is Key to Your Success
Another key component is to be sure that the wording you use is all positive words. Many people teach affirmation, such as I love myself unconditionally, Money comes to me easily and effortlessly, etc. For some people using words like unconditional work, but for most of us using a word that is changed by a prefix or suffix weakens the meaning and causes the subconscious to think of the word being changed. In the case of unconditional, the subconscious may only hear conditional and not actually change it. I know people that can say I never get sick and stay healthy and yet for most of us the focus would be on sick and the word never just isn’t taken in by the subconscious mind.
If I tell you not to think of a Pink Elephant you can’t help but think of a Pink Elephant. So, rather than work hard using negative wording in your affirmations and maybe get results, I highly recommend that you spend a few extra minutes, and make sure that the affirmations you are going to program yourself with are strong and positive.
Take a moment to sit quietly and think of the affirmation “I love myself unconditionally”and sense how you feel. Once you have a strong sense of how you feel stating that affirmations, do the same thing while you think and sense how you feel by saying I love myself totally and completely.
Most people report that they actually feel much better and more positive after sitting with the second affirmation than the first. When doing muscle checking to calibrate the strength of these two affirmation, I find that the I love myself unconditionally calibrates at a level 3 out of 10 with 10 being really strong and that I love myself totally and completely calibrates at a level 10.
When writing an affirmation consider how you feel and what you see as you think of each word. For instance when you close your eyes and think of effortless, do you initially see effort and then does it gradually get less? If so, do you really want to think of effort at all?
Here are some common affirmations along with examples of a stronger, more positive way of affirming your desires.
- Money comes to me easily and effortlessly
- Money comes to me easily and readily
- Money comes to me easily and frequently
- I receive an unlimited supply of money
- I receive an infinite supply of money
- I never get sick
- I always stay healthy (focus is on being healthy instead of sick)
Think also about how you interpret words or what they mean to you when coming up with affirmations. For instance I easily earn $10,000 per month, versus I easily receive $10,000 per month. My experience has been that I have earned money by working hard and not getting paid, so I prefer to affirm that I receive the money. For me that minor change, made a huge change in how I was treated and also opened up my ability to receive more easily.
The point here is to look carefully at the wording you use. Be sure it is positive and will give you the results you are wanting to achieve. Having your affirmations reviewed professionally can make the difference between spending years doing affirmations with very little results and spending just a few days or weeks and getting great results.
