Life Lessons from Stroke Survivor and Author Erica Tucci

Radiant SurvivorToday, I have the great pleasure of being the host on Day 2 of Erica Tucci’s Virtual Blog Tour. Erica’s book Radiant Survivor: How to Shine and Thrive through Recovery from Stroke, Cancer, Abuse, Addiction and Other Life-Altering Experiences is celebrating its big Amazon launch on November 19th, 2013 at http://www.radiantsurvivor.com/book-launch/pages/pre-launch.php.

Erica Tucci had a full life as a corporate manager of a Fortune 500 company, a healing arts business owner and an author of three books. It all came to a screeching halt in June 2011 when she had a stroke that left her completely paralyzed on her right side. While spending more than two years in recovery, she gained much wisdom about what’s really important in life. She re-entered the world with a new mission: to use her story as an inspiration for others facing life challenges, which we all have, big or small. That story can be found in her brand new book, Radiant Survivor. Erica is also an official Online Ambassador for the American Stroke Association.

Yesterday, Erica visited Belle Salisbury at http://bellesprit.com/index.php/our-team/columnists-contributors/43-belle-salibury/1283-life-lessons-from-stroke-survivor-and-author-erica-tucci#.Umm1Nflwqa8, where they talked about her lessons, past life and the guidance and inspiration she would give to others.

Today, I’d like to share with you a recent interview I had with Erica when I got to ask her some questions on limiting beliefs, miracles and the impact on her healing of stories from other survivors of major illnesses. I hope you enjoy it.

——-

Krystalya Marie’: How important was it for you to recognize and change limiting beliefs, for you to heal?

Erica Tucci: Limiting beliefs are what hold us back from being all that we can be and can prevent us from healing or recovering from any kind of difficult life situation. These beliefs are based on fears – fears of our outer reality that are a result of negative words, thoughts, beliefs or values that our parents, society, and culture might have dictated, and our egos have taken as our truths. For example, have you been told that you aren’t good enough or that you don’t have the wherewithal to do something, etc? How does that make you feel? Next time you are confronted with doing something that you have been told you can’t do, what is your immediate reaction? We usually internalize these negative beliefs and they become our self truths, and in turn can manifest into dis-ease, whether it be physical, emotional, mental or spiritual. So how do we breakthrough these beliefs so that we can reach our full potential and heal from a difficult situation? By replacing those beliefs with positive beliefs about ourselves, and connecting with our own inner divinity, our own true essence and radiating with self-love, there is no place for these fears to exist. When we can get to that place of self-love, we can actually change our inner chemistry and heal ourselves. That is what the last leg of my healing journey has been all about: surrendering to my Higher Self and affirming over and over that I love myself, I believe in myself and that I will fully heal. And I see each day as I do this, I move forward to full recovery.

Krystalya Marie’: I have found that many people think of a miracle as something that happens in an instant. Can a miracle happen over time or do they just happen instantaneously?

Erica Tucci: Miracles are defined as the “work of the Divine”. They are happening all around us all the time. We just need to open our eyes and hearts. Isn’t the birth of a baby one of the most beautiful of miracles of all? Life begins with a divine spark and blossoms like a plant sprouting from a seed. But what about a couple giving up after trying and trying to have a baby, and then miraculously one day, she finds out she is pregnant. Was that an instantaneous miracle? Or the time when someone who has had cancer that has metastasized, and then seemingly all of a sudden the cancer is gone. Or the case when someone doesn’t have enough money to pay all her bills and just before the bills are due, the money shows up. That has happened to me on several occasions. In all these instances, it’s the hand of God (Spirit, our Creator, Allah, or whatever you call the Higher Power) at work, and everything works in Divine timing. I believe that when someone’s faith and belief in themselves comes from deep within their soul and their surrender to that Higher Divinity is so powerful, then the miracle will happen, whether it is seemingly instantaneous or it happens over time.

Krystalya Marie’: Your book contains the stories of many different people who are “Radiant Survivors” like you, what impact did their stories have on your healing process? And would you please share one example for my readers?

Erica Tucci: Each time I had an issue to work on at any given moment while writing my book, I would write a chapter based on that issue and choose the story that would be most appropriate. So it really wasn’t the story itself that had the impact on me as much as the issue I had. BUT, what was uncanny was I was able to place the stories that I received from others into the chapters without any question of where each one would go. For example, for the chapter “Gratitude and Attitude,” I talk about being “grateful for our blessings and maintaining an optimistic attitude through thick and thin”. The story that I received from Callie, who was afflicted with breast cancer, had so much about her gratitude and attitude about her situation. She ends her story “I look positively toward the next stage of my recovery – a complete and prophylactic bilateral mastectomy and immediate reconstruction in 2013. I have spent enough time in solitary reflection and completing in-depth research to accept and embrace wholeheartedly the changes that have happened in my miracle of a body that I am so blessed to be partnered with.” That to me is the epitome of “gratitude and attitude.”

  • Krystalya Marie: Our unconscious language affects our subconscious which takes what we say repeatedly as gossip truth. For e.g. I am not good enough, I don’t know, I can’t do this tells our subconscious to manifest situations in our outer world which verify as truth these statements.

I agree complete surrender to the Divine opens the door for miracles. The challenge is to let go of our mind and ego for surrender to occur.

Chemically it has been shown that gratitude creates a positive attitude for which miracles can again occur.
